The retreat will be held at the Heartland Spiritual Center in Great Bend. It is located at 3600 Broadway Ave, Great Bend, KS 67530. There is limited space for lodging. 25 rooms available with 19 double occupancy. Check-in is after 3:00 p.m. on Friday May 1st and will conclude by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. About The Content
“Talitha Koum: Little Girl, I Say to You, Get Up!” is a detailed look at Jesus’ relationship with women in the gospels. Despite women being told by the patriarchal church for centuries that they are to remain quiet in church, to not speak, to not even ask questions (until they get home at which point they can ask their husbands whatever questions they have), Jesus does not treat women with such censorship. In fact, a closer look at the gospels shows that Jesus actually empowers women to not only find their own voice but to share his gospel. This presentation will take a deep look at many relationships Jesus had with women, from the woman with the 12-year hemorrhage to Mary and Martha, from the Samaritan woman at the well to Jairus’ daughter, to whom he spoke to powerful words, “Talitha koum,” which means “little girl, I say to you, get up!” Today’s women will find a renewed sense of who they are as Christians after spending this time taking a fresh look at the gospels and the way Jesus views his female disciples.
About The Keynote Speaker
Rev. Dr. Christine Kass is the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson. A native of Kansas, she moved to New York in 1993 to pursue her undergraduate degree in journalism at New York University. She met and married her husband, Guy, in New York, and they made their home on the east coast for 27 years.
Christy received her Master of Divinity degree from Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and recently completed her Doctorate in Ministry at Louisville Theological Seminary.
A proud Gen Xer, she loves Jesus, books, plants, Neil Diamond, really hoppy IPAs, and the KC Royals. The Kasses are foster parents, and also share their home with two cats, Dolly Purrton and Reba Smackentire, and their crazy rescue dog, Nori. In her spare time, Pastor Christy makes pottery, and has been known to carry on entire conversations in nothing but Seinfeld quotes.

Ofrenda unida de agradecimiento
La Ofrenda Unida de Gracias (UTO) es un ministerio de la Iglesia Episcopal para la misión de toda la iglesia. A través de la UTO, se invita a las personas a abrazar y profundizar una disciplina espiritual personal diaria de gratitud. Orden de las Hijas del Rey
La Orden de las Hijas del Rey® es una orden para mujeres que son comulgantes de la Iglesia Episcopal, iglesias en comunión con ella, o iglesias en el episcopado histórico pero no en comunión con ella. Nuestra membresía actualmente incluye mujeres en las iglesias anglicana, episcopal, luterana (ELCA) y católica romana.
Reafirmando las promesas hechas en el Bautismo y la Confirmación, una Hija se compromete a un programa de oración, servicio y evangelización de por vida. En este compromiso recibe el apoyo de una comunidad mundial de mujeres con ideas afines.
